Tai Chi at Queen’s College

To complement the teaching of Chinese and Chinese culture at Queen's, we decided to plan a morning of Tai Chi.

Chieng, a Tai Chi teacher from Algaida, came into school to show the children some basic greetings and moves to help us to relax and focus. The programme involved the whole of the primary department in three sessions.

The children enjoyed the experience so much that we have decided to carry out a 10 minute weekly session to help our students to prepare for their classes.

In a similar way to Brain Gym, collective movement and calm really helps the children to prepare to focus on learning. At Queen's we are so lucky to be surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Bellver woodlands. Working together in this way reinforces our philosophy about being one huge family - Queen's College!
