The award is based on specific results-based criteria. There is no limit to the number of awards available each year which means that all students who achieve the established objectives are rewarded.\n<h5><\/h5>\nThe award, apart from public recognition of qualities such as sustained effort and achievement consists of a monetary prize: the refund of 50% of the final year\u2019s annual school fee (see below: Sisu Award Criteria).\n<h5><\/h5>\nThe origin of the award\u2019s name: \u2018Sisu\u2019 is a Finnish term which, when loosely translated into English, means \u2018strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity\u2019. Sisu does not imply momentary courage, but the ability to sustain an action against all odds.\n<h5><\/h5>\nWe believe that the concept of SISU is particularly appropriate to the spirit and philosophy of Queen\u2019s College. It is also a perfect example of how each culture and language is unique. The diversity which stems from the coming together of different cultures and languages is responsible for the richness of the international school experience.\n<h4><strong>Presentation video <\/strong><\/h4>\n<div class=\"none\" style=\"margin-top:20px;\"><\/div>\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/12588960?color=ff9933\" width=\"100%\" height=\"500px\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\n<h4><strong>Sisu Award Criteria<\/strong><\/h4>\nThis award is presented to students who achieve 4 \u201cA\u201d grades at GCE \u201cA\u201d level or a 39 score at IB DP and who have demonstrated the academic and personal qualities which make them excellent role models for younger students.\n<h5><\/h5>\nThe award comes with a percentage refund of Year 13 fees as specified below.\n<ol>\n \t<li>10% refund of fees (based on annual fee) for one year\u2019s attendance at school.<\/li>\n \t<li>20% refund of fees (based on annual fee) for two year\u2019s attendance at school.<\/li>\n \t<li>30% refund of fees (based on annual fee) for three year\u2019s attendance at school.<\/li>\n \t<li>40% refund of fees (based on annual fee) for four year\u2019s attendance at school.<\/li>\n \t<li>50% refund of fees (based on annual fee) for students who have attended the school for a minimum of 5 years.<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Queen\u2019s College Sisu Award is presented annually to Year 13 students, in recognition of effort and perseverance.
